Welcome to the HueGuide FAQ page. Below, you’ll find answers to the most common questions about using the app.
What is HueGuide?
HueGuide is an app that helps you understand, compare, and explore colors — especially when colors don’t appear the same to everyone.
It supports people with color vision differences in everyday situations and helps designers create more inclusive, accessible experiences.
Who is HueGuide for?
HueGuide is designed for:
Everyone
- Identify and understand colors more clearly
- Make confident everyday choices (e.g. clothing, objects)
People with color vision differences
- Understand how colors may appear
- Detect confusing or similar colors
Designers and developers
- Design for a wider audience
- Validate color choices
- Improve accessibility and readability
How does “What Color?” work?
Select or take a photo and tap anywhere on the image. HueGuide will:
- show technical values like RGB, HEX, and CMYK
- identify the color
- provide a clear, human-readable description
How does “Same Colors?” work?
Tap two different points in an image. HueGuide helps you determine whether the colors:
- are actually the same
- or only appear similar
This is especially useful when colors look identical but are not.
What does “Readable or Not?” do?
This feature helps you understand whether text is easy to read against a background color.
It highlights situations where:
- contrast is too low
- text may be difficult to read for some users
This is particularly useful for improving accessibility in design.
What does “How others see” mean?
HueGuide allows you to explore how colors may appear to people with different types of color vision.
